Not sure what to say?

Mrs.Gotwald was my 3rd grade teacher at Canterbury, She helped shape the person i am today, She used to read "Where the Sidewalk Ends" to us daily and because of that my kids grew up and still read it. We kept in contact after i graduated High School and worked with her at Cain Park during a summer. She was a huge part of my memories and grateful for shaping me into the person i am today.

Karen Gotwald was my second grade teacher at Canterbury Elementary in Cleveland Heights in 1974-75. She was one of the most wonderful teachers I ever had. She was a nurturing, caring teacher who encouraged her student´s´ creativity and made second grade a fantastic year for me and my parents. I will always cherish her memory. I can´t imagine a better mentor for children than Ms. Gotwald.

I knew Karen from my college days through my teaching days. She was my boss at Cain Park. A true leader and talented teacher. She was loved and respected by many. Marilyn Lewis Mauck

I moved to Ohio away from my home and everything I knew and loved. Karen was my new neighbor in Shaker Heights. She treated me and my children like family. She was warm and funny and full of life and love. We´d share movie nights and meals. She made a difficult move special for me and became a very dear friend. Thank you Karen for being such a light.

Karen was the teacher that you hope your child has at some point in their school career. My now 37 year old son had Ms. Gotwald at Roxboro Middle School. I knew she was special because my son talked about her at the dinner table! When he turned 13 I had birthday party for him and I asked several adults who were special to him to write a `Birthday Wish´ for him. Karen wrote the most amazing letter. She knew my son, his humor, gifts and challenges. A few years ago I found the letter in the...

I will remember Karen's kindness and her cheerfulness. Her "bullies" project illustrates her care for the students and her ingenuity in providing meaningful help for them. Karen was a delight in our social events with close friends. We will always think of her fondly.

Karen was such a caring, loving person. I taught with her at Roxboro Middle School and have many good memories of her generosity and caring for her students.

I am so sorry for your loss. To the family- Karen was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. She was a great friend and co-worker to my mom and watched my sister and me throughout our childhood. I´ll never forget the trips to the bookstore and her amazing encouragement over the years. When my son was born 12 years ago, she bought him "Where the Wild Things Are," which was a favorite of mine growing up. She was a truly beautiful soul and left us with some amazing memories....

I well remember the Gotwald family from my days as a boy scout at Church of the Saviour, when Mr. Forward was music director. Later, when my mother was librarian at Roxboro Junior High, she spoke so admiringly of the work Karen was doing as a teacher there. Condolences to the family at this sad time.
