GLEN ARBOR — A celebration of the life of Karen K. Moir will be held at noon Saturday, April 11, at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, 4902 W. MacFarlane, in Glen Arbor.
She died unexpectedly at her home in Leelanau County on Friday, April 3, 2009. She was born in Dearborn in 1949, the daughter of Carl E. Katschor (who preceded her in death), and Vanita E. Katschor, who survives.
Karen moved to Commerce Township, where she raised her family before relocating to Leelanau County. Her husband, Robert G. Moir, also survives, along with her five boys, Thomas of Lake Ann, Robert of Ann Arbor, Scott of Seattle, Craig of Lake Leelanau and Jason of Maple City; and eight grandchildren.
Karen was well-known among her many friends for her enthusiasm for gardening and park and wetlands preservation, including her work in Commerce Twp., where she served as Director of Parks and Recreation.
