George L Doherty Funeral Service, Inc - Somerville Obituary

Karen E. Norton, of Arlington, passed away peacefully at the age of 49 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on July 12, 2022. She was the beloved daughter of the late George F.  Norton.

She is survived by her mother Ingrid, sister Kristen Newkirk and her husband Eddie as well as her niece Grace and nephew Liam whom she adored. It is impossible to count the number of extended family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers for whom Karen was a ray of light and love.

Karen resided in Arlington for the majority of her life. She graduated from Arlington High School, class of 1990. She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts at Boston University, class of 1994. She wore many hats in her post-college life; including Show Artist for the World of Animation at Walt Disney World, professional portrait and wedding photographer,  Municipal Assistant at Lexington Community Center, and Administrator positions at Tufts Healthcare and Mass General Brigham. She loved painting, photography, golf, and the beach.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Karen in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester on Saturday, July 23rd at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in appreciation of the care they provided to Karen.

Not sure what to say?

Karen was truly an angel on earth and was such a wonderful person as well as the kindest colleague I have ever worked with. It was truly a pleasure to have worked with Karen at Tufts Health Plan. Karen was always so giving and supportive. There will never be enough pages to share what on outstanding impact she had so many lives including my own!! I know we will cross paths again when God calls me home but for now rest with God to celebrate all you did for others.

I just learned of Karen's passing through our alumni publication. We were painting majors at BU and friends. Although we lost touch after graduation, please know she was thought of warmly throughout the years for her kind and funny spirit. Much sympathy to her family.

RIP Karen....such a wonderful, pleasant, kind hearted person. Truly loved life and it was a gift to know you. God Bless ! So Sorry

Karen and I worked closely together at MGB and relied heavily on each other for work knowledge and plenty of laughs. She always made the day better and greeted me with a sunny smile from the start. She is greatly missed already. I hope she is at peace.

I will miss you

My heart is broken. A wonderful light is gone from my life. I will miss her amazing delight and joy in every day things. Always made me laugh. Best dog sitter ever.

Please know how beloved Karen was among all her colleagues at MGB. Karen lit up the room with her presence. Always the optimist, the friendly smile (even visible under a mask), her compassion. I knew Karen for a short time but her impression on me will last a lifetime. My sincere condolences to the family on Karen's untimely loss.

Karen, it has been many years since we worked together at Tufts Health Plan, but I will never forget your beautiful face and your kind heart. Love you.

Sending love and sympathy over the loss of Karen. As many have said she was a bright light and I although I’ve only seen her online in the past few years, I will miss her beautiful energy in this world. I loved having her as a fellow “Karen” and sharing a chuckle about that distinction from time to time.
