Not sure what to say?

Shock and sadness overcame me when June told me of Karen's passing. I started reflecting on beautiful Karen with joyful memories! Having gone through K-12 with her, we became close friends. I was always impressed with her leadership, intelligence, compassion, involvement, and great personality! Her smile would light a room! I so enjoyed seeing her at our Bellaire High class reunions.
I see that we were also ZETA sisters.
I am so thankful she was close to God.
A candle has been lit...

I'll remember all the good times at Bellaire. Karen was always so much fun to be around. She will be missed.

Hey Sweetie, I know you are looking down on us smiling that sweet smile of yours! Don't ya just LOVE Heaven?

We will miss you bunches! I'm happy to have known you on this earth but will one day see you in Heaven! In Christs love, LIsa Lyon

I am very sorry to hear of Miss Karen's passing. I met her through her involvement with the Red Raider Club in Houston. She loved Tech and was willing to help out in any way needed. Never a big fan of the school in Austin, her stirring rendition of “Texas Fights” still rings in my ears and brings a smile to my face.
She was a very talented attorney, as the obit pointed out, having been involved in many important legal proceedings.
She was a true character of Texas and indeed a Lady...

I know you are in a better place with no pain or illness but we will still miss you. It will be different going to Houston and not seeing you or arguing politics but I am so glad I have your book of poetry. I think sometimes that there is a fear that loved ones will be forgotten but that is not possible because you will continue to live in or hearts.

May the bereaved family of Ms. Pettigrew be comforted by looking forward to a time when all causes of death and the sadness it brings, will be no more.

Karen, was one of those rare people whose personality was larger than life. Smart, passionate, committed, kind, funny, loyal, determined. We did have some wonderful times with a special group of friends at Texas Tech, and for all of us who were blessed to share a part of our lives with her, I know she will live in our hearts forever.

Karen was certainly accomplished in her lifetime. But most importantly, she was a nice person. I never knew her after Jane Long and Bellaire, except from afar.
But I will always remember her for her personal kindness to me. Karen will live on in my memory, and – I believe – in the thoughts of all those who knew her.

I enjoyed working with Karen at Copano Energy and was always amazed at her collection of cowgirl boots, hats and fantastic clothes. She will be missed by many.
