Karen was not only the choral director for all the musicals and talent shows we put on, she was my friend. So many wonderful memories and laughs. She believed anyone can be taught to sing until she heard my voice when a few teachers did a silly number for a Talent show. And she said,”Well”. But we sure put on some great productions in that old high school cafetorium! So much fun. So many wonderful kids. Mrs. Schadel was a huge part of my life in school. I will always remember how much she put into each of the choirs, musical, and LOcomotion. She made a big impact on me. I loved her.

Karen originated the phrase "Ohhh Rob" long before MTM did it on TV. It reflected her wisdom which her hubby needed to share from time to time. Needless to say they were a fun couple to be around and if one could bottle all the laughs we had while in the MSU Marching and Concert bands, it would fill Spartan Stadium. Karen was a wonderful lady and friend and will be missed by anyone who knew her.
