I became acquainted with Karen when Willard Alternative Program began in Missoula and I have always admired the courage with which she faced life. I admired also how deeply she devoted herself to her students and her career as a teacher. Karen has been a role model to me in very important ways, especially in her willingness to change certain parts of her life when needed or desired.
