Karen Van Hine
Frankenmuth, MI (formerly of Northville, MI)
Passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Covenant Cooper; age 79 years. Karen Westfall was born on November 26, 1937 to the late Thomas and Lenore Westfall. Karen graduated from Purdue University where she met her husband David Van Hine whom she married on February 21, 1960. David preceded her in death on February 3, 2010.
Karen belonged to Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, Frankenmuth Women’s Club, AAUW founding member, EGA Embroidery Guild of America, Karen was also a member of Sigma Kappa and a Girl Scout Leader. Her hobbies included embroidery, sewing, cooking, baking and reading.
Surviving Karen are her son Michael (Sharon) Van Hine of Frankenmuth, her daughter Susan (Tony) Smolek of Idaville, Indiana; Grandchildren Brittany Van Hine, Alexa Van Hine, Conner Van Hine, Carter Van Hine and Hannah Smolek; and 1 brother John (Kathy) Westfall of Cadiz, Kentucky.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home 590 N. Franklin St. Frankenmuth, MI. Burial will take place at Frankenmuth Township Cemetery. Karen’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy in leiu of flowers may wish to consider memorials to James E. Wickson District Library of Frankenmuth, Frankenmuth Women’s Club Scholarship Fund, or the AAUW Scholarship Fund.
