Last time I was with Karen she was in the middle of sending out an amazing amount of Christmas Cards. She will be missed by many, many people including myself. We shared music, gardening and the same source of manure. What a wonderful person to have known and loved.

Dear Bill, Julie, and the entire VerHulst Family,

I wanted to send my sincere condolences to the extended VerHulst family. Thirty years ago, my brother, Matt & I, started piano lessons with Julie, in the VerHulst's basement. We mingled with Mrs. VerHulst's students while we waited for our lessons and performed alongside each other in recitals. It was clear how dedicated Mrs. VerHulst was to her large & talented studio. When I was a student at Hope College, I remember running into Mrs. VerHulst in the music building. She was there for a...

My deepest sympathies, Bill and family. Karen was such a lovely person - a great neighbor and wonderful piano teacher to Heather and Jamie. She put her all into everything she did. God has gained an angel.
