Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

WESTIN (BREIDENSTEIN), Karen Joyce – Of Flint, age 83 passed away peacefully Monday, April 18th at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi Michigan with family around her.


Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home 1225 West Hill Road. Son-in-law Eric Swanson officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oakland Audubon Society at oaklandaudubon.org.


Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with service to follow at the funeral home.


Karen was born in Flushing, Michigan on March 12, 1939, the daughter of the late Theodore and Florence (Moak) Breidenstein and was a resident of the Flint area most of her life. She worked as an administrative assistant, a typist and a secretary. She volunteered her time as a poll worker and faithfully donated blood through the Red Cross to help others. She was an avid bird and wildlife watcher as well as one of most dedicated Genesee Valley Mall walkers there ever was.


Surviving are brother Theodore (Jean) Breidenstein Jr, daughters Debbie Westin; Sandie (Eric) Swanson; 2 granddaughters, Hannah (Devin) Bergeson and Haley Swanson (Cody Brewer) and one great-granddaughter, Rylie Bergeson.


She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ann (Breidenstein) Dessinger.

I'm so sorry to hear about Karen. I am her cousin. My mother was Agnes and Ted's youngest sister. Unfortunately I am in FL now and returning Tuesday. My other 2 sisters are out of state as well. Please know my thoughts and prayers will be with your entire family.
