Bird, Karl Phillips
of Tempe, passed away on his 90th birthday, January 10, 2009. He was born in Springville, Utah to William and Myrtle Bird. Karl married Iza Draper on June 11, 1941 in the Manti Temple. He earned a master's degree from Utah State University and was employed at American Oil until he retired in 1979. Karl and Iza moved to Tempe in 1983. He served his church throughout his life, including a mission with his wife in the San Antonio Texas Mission and as an ordinance worker in the Mesa Temple. At the time of his death he was a teacher in the church's children's organization. Karl was known for his love and service to his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Iza and is survived by his daughter, Lorraine (Brent) Jameson, son, Allan (Carolyn) Bird, 14 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Visitation and services will be held at the LDS Chapel, 1881 E. Del Rio Drive, Tempe. Visitation is from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, January 14. Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 15, at 11 a.m. preceded by a visitation at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in the City of Mesa Cemetery.
