Not sure what to say?

I will always remember and miss Karl, who I admired and respected - for what he did, who he was, and what he accomplished. His wonderful family is evidence of his meaningful and impactful life.

I miss Karl very much. He was a good and wise brother, a close friend also, and I'm very thankful for his life and all he did and was.

Mr. De Jonge was my teacher for US Biographical, 1970-71. He taught us so much more than history. I have such reverence and respect for his brilliance, kindness, fairness, integrity, and humor.
He was an amazingly gifted, wonderful human being, and one of my favorite, most beloved, unforgettable teachers.

Mr De Jonge taught social studies to me when at Niels East High School. I was very fond of him. I was very influenced by his devotion to justice and the importance of unions.
I was a person to trust. He was benevolent.

Joan, big hugs and love to you and your family. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Mr. De Jonge's family. As a high school student back in the mid 60s, I remember his kind and caring manner. The obit of his life gave us a glimpse into his content life beyond his teaching. He will be thought of and remembered fondly.
Student from the Niles East Class of '66

Attending Niles East is so long ago now. My memories have blended in with so many other happenings in my life. However, I remember Mr. De Jonge so very fondly. I had him two different times. I always liked his calm manner and learned so much from him. It was nice to read about all the other things in his life as the years have gone on. Blessings to the family and a final "thank you" to Mr. De Jonge. Sue Ellen Smith Skeen '66
