Not sure what to say?

I think of Ted Hecht frequently. He was a favorite professor and mentor for Helmut Baer, my husband; and he and his wife became good and dear friends! Rest in Peace dear Ted.

K. T. (Ted) Hecht's impact on Nuclear Physics lives on as recognized as part of a memorial symposia recognizing the follow on contributions of David Rowe (who passed in 2020) and most recently David's prize student George Rosensteel (who passed in 2021). Ted was a wonderful teacher and mentor to many, including myself, who set a standard of highest integrity in advancing what was a passion for doing things right, in each and every detail! There should be not doubt: K. T. Hecht's impact on...

He is still fondly remembered.

During the last year since his death I have often thought of Ted Hecht. Some of the thoughts which came to mind concern his approach to the students. In particular that each student should develop their understanding of the subject. If I had a problem with any of my PhD students and I did not know how to deal with it, I tried to think of how Ted would have dealt with a similar problem and I would be happy, if could do the same. His courses would take on almost mythological status and some of...

It is with deep sorrow that I am learning of your loss, Beth & family. Ted was such a kind and inspiring professor and Mentor for so many. Helmut held Ted in the highest esteem. -- and my family was deeply appreciative that Ted came to Helmut's Memorial Service so many years ago. If a Memorial Celebration for Ted is planned, please let me know. I would like to be there !

I am deeply sorry to hear that K.T. Hecht passed away. He was a great teacher and a great thesis supervisor for me. If any memorials are planned in the future I will appreciate it if I am informed.

A true professor in every way - scholar, teacher and mentor, who set a high standard for excellence, particularly within the field of nuclear physics where he helped to forge through the use of algebraic (group theoretical) methods, a deeper understanding of symmetries that are inherent in the strong interaction that binds nucleons in nuclei.

I am truly sorry for your loss. May the peace of God give you strength to endure this difficult time. Deepest sympathies.

Uncle Ted was a wonderful, kind and brilliant man. In sadness we celebrate a long life well lived. With deepest sympathies to Beth and family, we'll remember the many good times and warm memories.
