Not sure what to say?

I was sorry to hear of Karl's death (it just appeared in the SMU Mustang magazine). I had the great opportunity to attend one of his SMU in Greece classes in the mid-80s. What a joy to travel to these historic places throughout Greece with this incredible leader who was not only deeply passionate about the history and art, but so very knowledgeable as well. The impression he made on us that summer has lasted through the decades. Thank you, Karl.

I just learned of Karl's death. He was a Phi Kappa "Brother" in New Orleans in the 60's. We had some great times together and I am saddened to learn of his passing. He was a good friend and a great "Brother".

I was saddened to hear about the passing of Karl..My name is michael guintard, 64 and was a class mate of Karl's when we were in kindegarten back in New Orleans, as lusher school..we were 4-5 years old. I found a book that Karl gave to me at Xmas one year with an inscription..I looked him up on Spokeo, saw his address and was going to contact him and then saw that he had passed away..i am so sorry. If you would like a copy of his inscription for your memories of Karl, I would be happy to...

I was saddened to belatedly hear of Karl's passing today; I was out of state when it occurred. I last saw him on December 2nd @ the DMA and am so grateful to have visited with him that day. I had been asked to contribute a letter to a collection from students to be given to him upon his retirement later that month and had a very difficult time not mentioning it to him! He was a mentor to me while I was @ SMU and was the art history faculty member who wrote me a letter of recommendation for a...

He was a Distinguished Teaching Professor and man. Everytime a question arises on "Greek Myth and Art", I always state I would not have known the answer to that had I not taken Karl's class. I was fortunate to also become a social friend. I will miss his presence and remember the gift he gave to many.

My husband Pierce and I were shocked and saddened by the death of our dear friend Karl. Our lives were forever changed by our travels with him to Greece, Turkey, Scandinavia and India. We will never forget you Karl.

At the Amasis Painter Symposium in Malibu, Karl and I shared a memorable dinner and had our own symposium on Greek Vases and travel. He will be missed

It's very sad to hear of Dr. Kilinski's passing. His classes were inspiring to the extent that when I could, I would visit the places in Italy he showed us on slides. A great professor and he'll surely be missed.

I first met Karl at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens in 1973-74, when we were both in residence there. We shared a research interest in the myth of Daedalus and Icarus, so we periodically exchanged correspondence on our work. He also came to Hope College at my invitation to lecture on his work in classical art and myth. He delivered superb lectures and inspired our students' interest in the subject. I enjoyed our contacts at AIA/APA and ASCSA annual meetings over the years....
