Not sure what to say?

I was a "Regular" at the Schnitz. In fact, my then wife was an employee; I guess that makes me part of the extended family. I left GR in '83 but made it a point to visit Karl EVERY time I was in town right up until it closed. (I still have GR Press clippings). I loved that place and respected and admired Karl. He was a class act who will always be remembered fondly.

I have great memories of the Schnitzelbank. One of the great restaurants in Grand Rapids. I don't remember every being in the Schnitz when Karl was not there. My condolances to the family. My condolannces to Bill and Mary Seeger.

To Karl's Family, My family knew the Schnitz family for many years. My father, Earl Paulson, worked for Michigan Bakeries and delilvered bread to the Schnitz. It was one of the few restaurants he would eat in, because he knew how clean the kitchen was.(He was a fanatic about cleanliness). Karl and I took accordian lessons from Bill Wendtlent when we were kids, so that goes back awhile.
I have lived in Texas for years, but whenever I went home I always made it a point to have a good...

Karl,Amy, Hans, Wilhelmina, Christel, Stephen, Aren, Christel Timmers, Bill and Mary and Joachim:

Our deepest and heartfelt condolences to all of you during this difficult time. We feel blessed we had the opportunity to say goodbye to Karl on Sunday.

Our sons, Josh and Bryant, are forever grateful for the time Karl spent with them and the opportunity he gave them to work at the Schnitz. He was a mentor and "Opa" here in Grand Rapids.

Our prayers are with you...

We at Gallery 154 remember Karl with great affection and are keeping you all in our thoughts at this time of great loss.

Dear Chris,

I was so sorry to read of your brother's death. Please extend my sympathy to his wife and children.
Patsy and I hope to see you on Monday but,if not, we will all "do lunch" soon. I found those wonderful MSU pictures from Mason Hall.

Karl, the day we know is coming and dread arrived. Pops will me missed. Special memories for me was his passion for the Tigers, his gun collection, his "mulching lawn mower" probably the 1st in the nation, his joy of his diesel oldsmobile and his quiet patience and encouragement. Over many, many years he indirectly kept our families updated over meals/business meetings/family tradition birthdays and dates at the Snitz. As the years went by the sprakle in his eyes and the smile on his face...

Karl my old friend..I shall miss you.I recall the first time I saw you it had to be the spring of 1954..a couple of my Catholic Central buddies and I were getting into my old Jeep parked off of Jefferson and here, bigger than life was Karl, walking down the avenue in the complete uniform of a German soldier [werhmacht]..boots, helmet..the whole works. Soon after that we became fast friends.Good bye ole comrade..may God Bless and keep you.
