Hansen Funeral Home - Davison Obituary

Karla Kay Simmonds-Hansen of Davison, formerly of Otisville, age 66, died Thursday April 2, 2020 at her residence. Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm Wednesday April 8, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison, Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski, Celebrant. Private entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Due to CDC Guidelines of social distancing and limited gathering at one time, the family will receive visitors from 11:00 – 7:00 pm Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home, we understand those who may or may not want to join us, and we respect your personal decisions. Those desiring may make contribution in Karla’s memory to St. John Cemetery or Hurley Children’s Foundation.


Karla was born in Goodrich Michigan on September 8, 1953 the daughter of the late Edwin & Patricia (Coyle) Simmonds and had resided in the Otisville area until 1973 then relocating to Davison. She was joined in marriage to James Hansen Jr. on Aug. 4, 1973 in Flint Michigan. Karla was a Graduate of Lakeville High School in 1972, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Davison. She started her career in banking in the mid-seventies starting with the Lapeer National Bank and retired from Michigan National Bank. She later attended EMS Classes and was active serving  her community in the family business of Hansen EMS, she was also very active  with her husband in operating Hansen Funeral Home.


She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of forty-seven years Jim, daughters; Kristen Hansen-Bullock and husband Dan, and Katie Hansen and husband Josh Batoha. She also leaves her loving grandchildren; Kendall Bullock, Kaden, and Kasen Batoha. Also surviving is sisters; Sue Simmonds-DeJaegher, Lorie Simmonds-Smith and husband Trevor, several nieces, nephews, great niece, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
