Karvel Kuhn Thornber

I have fond memories of Karvel. He was a colleague of mine at Bell Labs and we published a couple of papers together on problems of high-field transport and a patent. He was a deep thinker and had a powerful toolkit of mathematical methods to solve very complex problem. He had a gentle nature and though very reserved his deep humanity and generosity of spirit was always in full display. My heartfelt condolences to his family

Allow me to offer condolences. Karvel was very devoted to his parents, even cross-country, as they were members of our church, Savage Memorial Presbyterian. On his frequent visits, he was attentive to his mother particularly, and always so kind. And conspicuously humble. Our prayers are with his daughters and family.
