Not sure what to say?

Dear Jane, I'm so saddened to learn that Kate died in January. I learned this only last night, although I'd been fearing it was so but hadn't been able to reach you. Kate and I became friends when we were both PhD students -- and supported each other through our dissertations (though she finished first). I'm glad we continued as friends, though intermittently, through the years. I will always think of Kate's intense gaze, her ready laugh and a voice that always seemed on the verge of...

Dear Jane, sorry -- I'm not sure my prior message went through. I'll just say again that I am so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and wishing you the best.

Dear Jane, I only learned last night that Kate died in January. I'm so sad to learn what I feared and so sorry for your loss. Whenever I think of Kate, I always think of her intense eyes that could look right into you, her ready laugh (and how she always sounded as though she was stifling a laugh), her intelligence and frankness, long conversations, and her voracious reading and book recommendations. I miss her! Thinking of you and wishing you the best.

My deepest condolences to Kate´s family and to Jane (partner of Kate´s) Higgins. I have many memories of Kate. I have known her for 4 decades and always remember her as a kind, interesting, very intelligent, compassionate and understanding individual. My sister Jane and our family have lost a very kind soul. Rest In Peace Kate. We will miss you. Sarah, Elise and Patty

What a huge loss this is; it left a big hole in my heart. Kate was a huge support and mentor to me, and a great colleague. She was smart, competent, compassionate, and had so much integrity. Her love and care to me have deep and positive impact on my life. She will live in my heart forever! Also, her devotional contribution to the sociology department at Westfield State University will be the enduring memorial monuments! Her legacy will be remembered forever!

Kate was a close and loyal friend ever since our undergraduate days at Barnard College. I will miss her very much and value our decades of friendship. My condolences to all those close to her.
