Martha Raby called to tell me of Katherine's passing. I use to visit your mom when I visited Martha. All I can say is that I have never met any as incredible as your mom. I will miss having tea and conversation with her and Martha. I sat at her house and loved to listen to her stories about her life. I use to tell her she needed to write a book about her life. She was a remarkable women, ahead of her time. She loved her hummingbirds and frogs and fish in her pond. She planted some "pink-eye...

I am sorry to hear of your mother's death. I've thought of her and her wonderful mountaintop home so many times down through the years.

Dear Fontaine, Catherine and Lee,
I am so saddened to learn that your mother has died. I was just visiting in Virginia last week and asked Langhorne if she knew how Katherine was doing. I am Mary Allen and Reed Pollard's daughter, Mimi. I know with Katherine's passing one of the last links to that special generation from Portsmouth is gone. She was such a unique and admirable lady...such strength of character...my visit with her on the mountain top was memorable.

I am so sorry to learn of your mother's death. I am sure that there is some blessing but none the less still very sad. I have some great memories of my visits with her on the mountain and the rustic cottage that was her home. I will remember with great fondness our talks of Portsmouth and her friendship with my mother. I find it very sad and brings tears that her time on this earth has ended. I will think of her often with great fondness. ...
