Feerick Funeral Home - Shorewood Obituary

(nee Denton) Born December 26, 1968. Born to Eternal life October 27, 2017. Kate leaves behind her husband Frank Almond, and the two beautiful daughters that they welcomed together in marriage, Tessa Jane and Gabrielle Kellie. She also leaves behind her parents, Mary Jane and Robert Denton, her brother David Denton (Katie), and her nieces, Mary Kate and Caroline, nephew William, and countless family members and friends.

Kate was a graduate of Dominican High School and the University of Colorado at Boulder. Following graduation, she worked as an Archivist for National Geographic in Washington D.C. She returned to Milwaukee where she pursued a Master of Library & Information Science from UWM.

When not busy raising her lovely girls and supporting her husband, and volunteering with her church community, Kate ran the successful business that she founded, Underdoodles. She had an amazing sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a love of skiing and margaritas.

Thanks to the countless family members, friends, colleagues, medical professionals, and everyone who offered so much love, support, and empathy during the last few years, particularly the last eighteen months.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 1, from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Feerick Funeral Home, 2025 E Capitol Drive, in Shorewood. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 2 at 10:00AM, at St. Robert Catholic Church, 2214 E Capitol Drive, in Shorewood. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery will be private for the family. Memorials in Kate’s name would be appreciated to St. Robert’s School, Dominican High School and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Not sure what to say?

Katie and I knew each other at school in Boulder, we lived in the same apartment building on The Hill. My room was right down the hall from hers and we would often hang out together at the end of the day. Those are some of my favorite memories from college.

Katie was something special, just thinking of her now makes me happy. That laugh!
I was overjoyed to see photos of her beautiful family and realize how blessed she was.

Dear Frank and Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss, at this time of sorrow I send a band of angels to enfold you in their love and hold you close at hand so that you may find peace and comfort in the wonderful memories of your beloved wife, mother and friend.

Katie was a great friend at University of Colorado. Totally lost touch a few years later. Came across an old address book in the attic a few days ago. Saw the name and fond memories came immediately. Such a vibrant personality, great heart. My deepest condolences.

Our deepest condolences to the entire Almond Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. All your cherished memories will be treasured forever.

Katie was always a sweet person. We'd always speak to each other in passing.
I'm so sorry for this. Wishing you all the best

I went to Dominican with Katie. I'm so saddened to hear of this tragic loss. She was a beautiful and sweet soul. My heart goes out to all of you.
