Miss Doezema was my World History teacher at KCHS in 1962. She was the first teacher, and maybe the only teacher, to ask us what we were reading other than school assignments. She inspired curiosity and research into ideas, current events, and history. I became a librarian and feel that her teaching methods prompted my desire to seek information beyond the simple answer.

Miss Doezema was my history teacher at KCHS. She taught history with a genuine enthusiasm which encouraged my interest in history. I have always remembered her favorite catch phrase of the time "bunk." May she rest in peace and her loved ones find consolation in her passing.

My most sincere condolences. She was my High School history teacher. (Class of 72) Other than my Dutch grandfather, she fanned my love of World Histpry that I embrace to this day. What a special gift she was

Sorry to hear this news. She was my teacher for two history classes at Kalamazoo Central in the 1970s. She was especially supportive and a very specific conversation with her--in which said "you only go to college once, you know"--helped spur me to set aside worries about expenses and actually enroll in the Ivy League institution where I had been accepted--which helped lay the groundwork for my eventual career as a college professor. Had miss Doezema for a teacher at Baxter Chr. She was only 11 years older than us Jr. high students. We did respect her, was surprised to see her obituary. Always had fond memories of her as our teacher.
