Katherine "Kaye" (Miniter) Goosmann passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017.
She was born on September 17, 1920 in New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Bartholomew and Margaret (Fahey) Miniter and grew up in the New Haven, Connecticut area. Kaye moved to New York City to become a professional dancer at the Roxy Theatre. After her marriage to the late Frank Goosmann, they moved to the Chicago area where she returned to college attending Roosevelt University in Chicago and receiving an Associates Degree from the College of DuPage in Illinois. She worked as a reference librarian in Riverside Public Library for several years; then going on to work in information at the Amoco Research Center Library in Naperville, Illinois. She was a member of the Epiphany Cathedral CCW where she was an usher for many years and had volunteered at the parish library since her move to the area.
She volunteered over 5000 hours at the Venice Hospital which is now known as Venice Regional Medical Center. Kaye loved family, friends, the Symphony and Ballet. She read veraciously newspapers, magazines as in Vanity Fair, and books covering an electric and wide range of books. She was petite, polished, personable and a joy to know.
She is survived by her nieces, Dorothy Bruno of Westerly, Rhode Island, Kathleen von Hofe of Branford, Connecticut; and her nephews, Brian Miniter and Patrick Miniter of Branford, Connecticut and Francis Miniter of Berlin, Connecticut. Kaye is also survived by many grandnieces and nephews. She will be truly missed by her dear friend, Joyce Mahaffy. Kaye was predeceased by her brothers, Bartholomew, David, Raymond and James.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Epiphany Cathedral at the convenience of the family at a later date.
