One of my first memories with sweet Katherine ❤ I was fortunate to meet Katherine through baseball in our early years at Carrollton Boosters and then continued our friendship at HNJ. I will never forget the year Katherine was awarded the sportsmanship award after the loss of her mother. Katherine got me through some of the worst months after Hurricane Katrina when I had started a new school and was always a friend to me. Energetic, caring, compassionate, athletic, and always full of life....

I struggle with trying to find one memory. I first met Kat at LSU in Baton Rouge. Within a few months we hung out every week, then everyday. She quickly became one of my bestfriends. LSU football games, Mardi Gras in Nola and random weekends just talking about life are some moments I’ll never forget. Katherine loved with all of her heart and she would defend her friends and family without hesitation. New Orleans was deeply engrained in her heart and there is no other place in the world she...

My first year at Encore, that Christmas, I was Kat’s, Kris Kringle. I remember looking for the last gift for her, and how difficult that was. What made it so difficult was Kat. She was such a beautiful person that made you want to pick that perfect gift. I finally found a necklace that captived all that she was. A beautiful and a sparkling ray of sunshine. May she Rest In Peace! Heaven is celebrating, because Kat is there.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I knew her for a short while at Encore Academy. She was loved by the students. They were always asking to see her. She was a very sweet and loving person.

Katherine was an amazing friend all through high school and well into adulthood. Her encouragement made me into the person I am today. I was so proud to see and hear of her accomplishments from her work with kids in the city. Kids that really needed the help. Books, Mardi Gras's, pizzas, movies, tacos, crawfish, the list goes on and on. I feel for the family. Her loss is immeasurable.

I am so sad to learn of Katherine’s death. She accomplished so much in her short life. Betsy and I were second cousins and I taught Katherine at HNJ. They were such a loving family. Please know I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
