Katherine McHugh

I knew Katherine through her mother, Helen McHugh of Atchison, KS. I took piano lessons from Helen for a number of years in the late 60s and early 70s and helped her by mowing her lawn and painting the house. I saw Katherine many times over those years. Such and bubbly and vibrant personality - I'm sure she touched many throughout her life. My condolences go out to her friends and students.

Kem was a true hero for many of us who worked with her at HPHS. I was particularly lucky because I was the Division 2 principal and Kem was the counselor. Countless numbers of students benefitted from her wisdom, patience and compassion. She was truly incredible and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Keep was a very kind and caring person. She and my mother worked together at Highland Park High School. They were good friends. She will be greatly missed.

Ms. McHugh was a great influence on me as my guidance counselor when I was a student at Highland Park High School. She believed in me and guided me to take up a career that made me happy and that played to my strengths. She was well-respected and cherished. The community has lost a great leader.
