Katherine Kate A (Long) Smith, of albion, Nebraska, born on July 20, 1923 in Albion, Nebraska, to the late Margaret Long and the late George Long, passed away at age 95 on December 5, 2018 in lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated from Albion High School in 1941. She was in the Retail industry at Magees as a Sales Associate in Fashion until retiring in 1990 and in the Retail industry at Ben Simons as a Sales Associate in Fashion until retiring in 1999. Katherine was the loving wife of the late Phillip Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Smith Egan; brother, James Long; and sister, Elizabeth Smith. Katherine is survived by her son, Michael Smith; daughters, Mary Mullen Martinez and Elizabeth Smith Ebert; and grandchildren, Erin Egan, Patrick Harris, Katherine Mullen, Thomas Mullen, Elizabeth Mullen, James Mullen, Brendon Smith, Brian Smith, and Erin Fleming. She also leaves behind her greatly loved dog, Happy. Katherine enjoyed playing cards, cooking, spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Those who wish may donate in Katherine's name to Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration. Friends and family members may attend the memorial service, officiated by Father Beardsley, on Thursday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1720 Lake Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68502. I miss you Grandma.

You will be missed greatly by my family. We always enjoyed Aunt Kate's visit. I am sure she is with mom and her family. May she rest in peace. Love the Heidt Family from Oregon and Washington.

Katherine Ann Smith (Long) was born on July 20th, 1923, in Albion, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Margaret Long (Sullivan) and George Long. Kate had two older siblings, James and Elizabeth, and they all loved life on the farm in Albion. Kate graduated from Albion high school in 1941 and started one of her first jobs at Millies Dress Shop in Holdrege, Nebraska...
