Kathie Jean Richey was born August 22nd 1954. Kathie was born to Fred Lee Berry and Winona Jo Berry in Dallas, Texas. Kathie grew up in Mesquite, Texas, graduating from Mesquite High School in 1972. During her high school years she met the love her life, Charles Richey. They married on January 26th, 1973. Celebrating their 43rd year of marital bliss just a few days ago. During their inseparable time together, Kathie formed a special loving relationship with her in laws John D Richey and Joann Richey who preceded her in death. She was immediately accepted as one of the family, building bonds with Charles's sisters Martha and Beverly. Kathie was the mother of two sons and she bragged on their families often to anyone who would listen. Adam and his wife Amy of Nacogdoches have two daughters Hannah and Madeline. Chad and his wife Dorrie of Longview have three boys, Kaleb, Landon and Jacob.

Kathie spent 17 years helping people as a RN, Graduating from Tyler Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Kathie spent the majority of her career at East Texas Medical Center and Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. Kathie also fulfilled a dream of hers, spending a year as a travel nurse. Kathie spent her free time Crocheting, and playing with her grand kids. Kathie’s other interest included reading, playing computer games and doing crossword puzzles.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I enjoyed the times we got to visit at family gatherings.

Charles, Adam and Chad - I was so sad to hear about the sudden passing of your beloved mother and wife. She was such a very special lady and always had such a sweet disposition and comforting smile. I have so many wonderful memories as a child with your family as I know you do. Please know we are praying for all of you as you now have to adjust to life without her. I'm so sorry for your loss.
