Kathleen Claire (Carazola) Berkowitz, died unexpectedly on June 3, 2024, at Lahey Hospital, Burlington, Massachusetts. She was born on November 27, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Anna Mary (Fackiner) Carazola and Joseph Carazola M.D. 


Kathleen (Kathy) graduated from the prestigious Fontbonne Women’s High School and furthered her education at the Boston College School of Nursing. She graduated Magna Cum Laude on June 23, 1970.


Kathy then accepted a nursing position at Children’s Hospital in Boston where she met the love of her life, Daniel Berkowitz, and began the job of her dreams, caring for small children. They married and spent 37 years going to concerts, traveling the world, and listening to classical music until his death in February 2016.


Kathy ended her nursing career caring for children at Primrose Schools.  She loved reading, flowers, beauty parlors (she always looked good), shopping, traveling, and lunches with her dear friends.  Kathy was blessed to have her significant other, John Knowles, visit her and her cat, Mimi, every evening.


In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Carazola. Surviving are her step-daughter, Jessica Berkowitz Fair, andher step-grandchildren, Julia and Benjamin, of Bedford, MA. Also surviving are her cousin, James Carazola of Houston, TX; her brother James Carazola D.M.D and his wife Kay of Palm Harbor, Fl; her nephew Joseph of Hollywood, Fl; her niece Kristin Carazola Burch D.D.S. of Dunedin, Fl; her niece Kimberly Caraloza Funkhouser and her husband Kris of Buckhead, Ga; her nephew James Carazola and his wife Julie of Palm Harbor, Fl; and eight grandnieces and grandnephews, Amanda, Allie, Aidan, Sierra, Katelyn, Claire, Jimmy, and Chloe.


A service of remembrance with be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Saturday, July 20, at 1:00 PM.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathy’s name to Angell Animal Memorial Hospital, 350 S Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
