'Good People'

At this year's Gender Blender co-ed Frisbee tournament in Fergus, Ontario, in June, a special award was given for the first time. It is called the Kit Faragher Spirit Award, and it was given to the team that most embodied the intensity of spirit of Ms. Faragher, 33, a computer programmer from Denver who worked for Janus Capital Corporation and was attending a training program at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11.

Ms. Faragher's team had participated in but not won Gender Blender competitions in 2000 and 2001. But Mark Evans, a tournament organizer, said that Ms. Faragher had impressed everyone with her verve and energy.

Her sister Beth Faragher said that people liked being with Kit. "She was just a fun person to be around," Ms. Faragher said. "You know how you sometimes hear someone say that somebody was `good people'? That was Kit."

Another sister, Mary Waterman, said that Kit was governed by an unebbing generosity of spirit.

Once, several years ago, Kit, Mary and Beth went for a hike with the family, including two children, and got terribly lost. They stumbled back to camp six hours later, but it was too dark to cook the s'mores that Ms. Faragher had promised her nieces. The next morning, Mrs. Waterman said, as the children rubbed the sleep from their eyes, their Aunt Kit toasted marshmallows and served s'mores for breakfast.

In Rememberance

Remembering Kathleen on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...

I will never forget when you moved in the neighborhood and stole my heart. I got to bask in your light for a precious few weeks. 19 years ago, that amazing radiant smile was stolen from the world. What a loss.

Sending our deep sympathy to your family. May God continue to give the strength needed to cope with such a sad loss. Kit is still remembered by others and missed.

Kit!
We miss you...
We will never forget.

I knew Kit in Ohio. I was a neighbor. I remember her as a young girl with no fear. I have fond memories of her adventures. When I had my daughters, they reminded me of KitKat. I had moved away years before and didn't know where she was. I did a Google search and was greatly saddened and shocked to hear that she had died in 9-11. I am so sorry for her family's loss. I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thinking of the Faragher family today. I still remember KitKat as a skinny little blonde fearless kid. It sounds like she grew up to be an accomplished and impressive woman. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thinking of you today. Never forgotten!

Never forgotten, Kit. So many years have passed. You were always in my mind. My daughter is gone now, too, and I hope there is some place, where you are both, because you were too good to not be. Always and forever, mate.
