Not sure what to say?

Kathie was my student at DLI. Thanks, Dean, for sending me the message. My condolences to everyone. She was such a sweet girl.

Harry Olsen, DLIFLC Chinese Dept. Chair Emeritus

I am so thankfull that I got a chance to go to the mini Class Reunion Last summer 2004 in Hinkley.
It was the last time I got to see Kathy. I myself am a cancer survivor and I have been praying for Kathy; Perhaps the Lord Jesus Christ just simply wanted to take her home. We will miss her very much.
Sincerely,
Ray Lamatrice Class of 1971 Rhodes

We met Kathy in Hawaii in the early 1980's. We did not know her as well as most of the friends who appear on these pages, nor did we know her as long. But in the short time we knew her -- as members of the Navy family -- she was a good friend indeed. We miss her.

These were the remarks --more or less-- I was honored to offer at Kathy's service yesterday.

For 7 years, I had the good fortune to be Kathy’s husband. There is no doubt that Kathy and I both brought issues into the marriage that challenged its opportunity to last. There is also no doubt that when all the accounting is done, that I brought the larger share of faults into the equation.

Kathy was my first true love. When all the dust settled from the fallout of our...

Kathy was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. We spent many happy hours shopping in Hawaii (and New Jersey) as well as checking out restaurants in Monterey, CA. She joined my late husband and I for a tour of three other Hawaiian Islands when she was stationed in Oahu.

She always had a sweet smile for others although she had her feisty side, too, as evidenced by her dedicated service to her country. She was obviously an accomplished linguist who took great pride in her...

I went to Rhoded High School with Kathy, although I did not get to know her until about 5 years ago when she invited me to join our high school's 30th reunion committee. During the past five years,we saw each other many times at meetings and other gatherings. I am so grateful to her for bringing me together with my former high school classmates. I will always remember her as a thoughtful person whose personality seemed to draw people together. She will be remembered and missed.

Kathy's courageous battle was as much for the people around her, as for herself.

Now is the time to celebrate Kathy's life. Although she was taken from us much to quickly, the short time she was on this earth was among other things, both joyful and inspirational.

Kathy did not fear crossing over and was prepared for what life brought her. She has wanted everyone to know that she will be our guardian angel until the time we meet again.

My dear sweet Kathy, I...

Although I did not have the privilege to know Kathy personally, over the past several months I have heard many wonderful stories of this brave and courageous woman through her dear friend Michael (Matt) Cotton, who had served with her in the U.S. Army in Japan.
Her battle with cancer was a long difficult one, however, her ability to fight and live life to the fullest up until the end has been inspirational to me.
Over the past week I received many updates through her friend Matt who...

Kathy has left us with a legacy of advocacy, courage, relationship healing, using the internet & networking for research into her disease & treatments. She remained faithful to God & her love for her mother & her close friends. She taught us how to find peace in putting herself in God's hands. We will miss her. I will miss her.
