Kathleen Kearns

Kathleen "Kathy" Kearns, 53 of Tarpon Springs, FL, formerly of Dyersville, Iowa, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at home, following a sudden illness. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family at Farley Funeral Home. She was born on October 26, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Roger and Janet Kearns. Kathy attended Ellsworth College and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Fall. Following a career teaching elementary education, she most recently worked in hospitality at Innisbrook Golf Resort in the Tampa Florida area. Her interests were traveling, boating and roller skating. Surviving are her special friend, Peter Hanson of Oldsmar, FL; five siblings, Linda (Larry) Youtzy of Dubuque, John (Jerry Nabors) Kearns of Des Moines, Margie (Kent) McDougall of Venice, Karen (Jeff) Lytle of Coralville, Iowa, and Kevin (Erinn) Kearns of Herndon, VA; seven nieces and nephews, Lisa (Jeff) Ellwood of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kelli Youtzy of Dubuque, TJ and Steve Lytle of Coralville, Grant, Shane and Alec Kearns all of Herndon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Janet Kearns, and her grandparents. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Kathy's honor.
