Sister Catherine Mary was the reason I became a teacher. She was my Grade 5 teacher at St. Thomas the Apostle in West Springfield and she made girls feel as smart as boys. She gave us confidence in whatever suject we were learning. She had a gentle, nurturing nature. I became a French teacher and taught for 35 years in Stonington,CT. Her encoragement will never be forgotten. She has a special place in my heart.
