Kathleen Starnes Obituary

Kathleen Marie Starnes

Nashville, TN

I left this world sliding into homebase. I have gone to meet my Maker, friends and family. I leave a wonderful husband, Larry Maxwell that I was blessed to marry. He provided a built in family, Abby Maxwell-Dobson (Jason) and 2 granddaughters, Hannah and Norah. I know they are in good hands. My brother, Rick Starnes & nieces: Hallie, Bailie, Audrie and nephew, Grant and 1 great niece, Adaleigh. I will be watching over you. To my numerous friends, I send my love and will miss you all. Keep that bright light shining and remember, "It is not how you survive the storm but how you dance in the rain." Celebrate Life, Vote Republican!

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday May 3, 2017 from 10-2 with a Funeral Mass to follow at 2 PM at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kathleen Starnes memorial fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, 3833 Cleghorn Ave. Suite 400, Nashville, TN 37215. Linda and Al Valiquette

Al and I were deeply saddened to hear that Kathy had passed away.
I didn't know her personally in high school except to see her as a cheer leader at FRHS.
She was cute as a button.
I actually met her when I was selling furniture.
She came into our store and I met her and her husband. They purchased furniture from me and she saw my name tag an asked if I was related to Al Valiquette and I told her he was my husband and Al had known her in high school when he was at Ryan.
She was a very sweet lady and had a nice husband too. I can see by the other comments that my perception of her was accurate a sweet kind person with a big heart and a bubbly personality.
My sympathy to her family and I feel she is in heaven with God.

I just learned of Kathleen's passing. My since condolences to family and friends. I always remember Kathleen (and I remembered her often because of her wonderful personaity) as one of the most energetic, positive "can do" women I have ever know. My work with Kathleen was always a joy. RIP

I was shocked to hear of Kathleen's passing. I met her at a National Association for Professional Saleswomen meeting in the '80s. Kathleen was always smiling and had more energy than anyone I knew. If you needed something done, you'd look to Kathleen because she was a "doer" and held many leadership roles. A great lady with a big honest heart. She will be missed by so many people in Nashville. My Condolences to her family. RIP Kathy.

I extend my heartfelt sympathy to Kathleen's family. Through my years at Meharry Medical College, Kathleen was a shining star who would go out of her way to make certain supplies arrived ASAP. When she found out that I went to school with her brother Kevin, she was even more delightful. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Although we didn't always agree on our politics, it never prevented us from smiling and having a good laugh over many different topics. She was an absolute doll. Nashville will no doubt be a bit dimmer without the flash of her perpetual smile. I ask the Lord to hear our prayer.

Kathleen's visits to my lab at Meharry always brightened my day. She was a great help always looking for creative solutions to all sorts of problems. She supplied us with seemingly endless cookies and laughter. We may have been on opposite sides of the political spectrum, but we always found a point of common humanity. I was so sorry to hear of her life being cut short way before her time. Many condolences to her husband and family.

The word that was always used for Kathleen was "tireless" -- in her work, in her political efforts, in her civic and charitable activities, in her faith. Would that the world had more like her. Would that we could have held on a little longer to just the one.

So sorry to Kathleen's loved-ones. She is such a beautiful soul. One of the kindest individuals I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. What a loss for the living, but how grand for the heavens! She will be greatly missed.

Kathleen was one of the first people I met when I joined the Nashville Republican Women. She was a warm soul and made me feel like she had known me for a lifetime. Her smiling face and sharp wit drew me to her and every time we had an event, I was certain to seek her out! Her friendliness and enthusiasm was like a beacon of light...quite refreshing in the cynical and sometimes anti-social world we live in. There need to be more people like her in this world. But for sure, no one could ever replace her. Love and prayers to Larry and the whole family and thousands of friends who will miss this beautiful diamond!!

It was pleasure to become Kathleen's friend years and years ago. While, we went different ways in our work worlds it remained a pleasure to bump into her here and there.

Larry and Abby, So deeply sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers for you.

May 2, 2017

Oh the memories, the laughs, the support, that smile, the twinkle that was always in her eye, the way she lit up a room just by walking into it, that big heart and great laugh and her faith in God and her family. All blessings to those who knew her.

She was "my favorite Republican" something that cracked us both up but never hurt the friendship.

May she rest in peace.

My Sweet Kathy, this has come as quite a shock, leaving me totally speechless and very saddened. Dear Friend I know you are with those you love and will be watching over those left behind. There is no doubt that you have earned your crown for the impact you had on all of us during you brief time here. I will always treasure our friendship. Rest Sweet Friend and pray for us as I will for you, Larry and your family.
