Not sure what to say?

Kathy was a great friend and colleague. I will remember fondly having her as part of the gang that played Trivial Pursuit, charades, and Pictionary. For someone with such a physically fragile heart, she more than made up for it with her generous spiritual heart. Kathy, you are missed.

Jim, I was so sorry for your loss of Kathy. You and Phyllis did such a noble job taking care of her until her passing. I am thinking of you.
Love,
Connie Caskey McFarland

When I think of my career and the people I worked with, Kathy is in my top 10 most wonderful, friendly, helpful and professional. From my student teaching in 1988 to my last day when I left NC-12 for a broader world in 2000, I was blessed to work with Kathy. My favorite memory of Kathy is walking from the Seattle Convention Center in Seattle to Nordstrom after a long morning of sessions at the American Speech/Language Hearing Convention. We were both tired of sitting and decided it was time...

I was a student of Kathy's at Seth Lewelling from second grade through sixth grade. At the time I had a horrendous stutter, which she was instrumental in helping me overcome. She also taught me that it had nothing to do with intelligence, and helped me come to terms with what I was facing. I remember vividly her supportive demeanor and caring words as she taught us to talk like a robot (or Marilyn Monroe) and slowly built us up to fluency. If everyone in the schools cared about the kids half...

I worked with Kathy at Seth Lewelling for 10 years and then at Oregon Trail. the one thing that everyone would say about her is she loved her kids and gave her all. She will be missed. Cindy Hanson

Kathy,
You impacted my life in a huge way. When I came to the district in 1998, I met you the first time at Lot Whitcomb Elementary. You had been my mentor the first two years or so. I really appreciated that. But that's not the real reason you changed my life. You left Whitcomb to work at another school. You were always willing to move to new schools. AFter my first year, I was engaged to be married. I remember you telling Y'Vonne, "I told you I needed to move to another...

Dearest Kathy,
So thrilled to get your "friend invite" on Facebook and of course I said "heck yeh". It was a joy to hear about your life and what you were up to after retirement. When I heard you were sick, as sad as it was, I think you felt it was just another hurdle to climb and you walked that path with gusto, courage and your always present sense of humor. My last card of "Warm Fuzzies" to surround you, I trust is now on it's journey to keep you safe on this next mountain. Though...

I worked with Kathy at Lot Whitcomb School in NC12. She was a true professional who cared deeply about her students and her colleagues. Working with her was a pleasure.

Kathy and I were roomates in an old four-plex in North East Portland early in our careers as Speech Pathologists (I graduated one year before her from PSU). I remember she worked days at the North Clackamas School District and then some evenings for the Portland Police Dept. We had a lot of fun together before she decided to move closer to her work. I recall meeting her parents and I'm sure she met mine, too. I still make a chicken dish that I learned from her.
We had a chance to catch...
