William J. Burke & Sons / Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Kathleen “Kathie” Walaska (Madden), 67, of Malta, NY passed away on Tuesday morning December 26, 2023. The day prior, Kathie enjoyed a wonderful Christmas celebration at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Kathie was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born on September 21, 1956, in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Thomas Madden and Mary Eileen Madden (Burke). Upon graduating from St. Patrick’s High School in 1974, she entered the work force and held administrative and office management roles throughout her career.

Kathie most enjoyed spending time with her family, playing solitaire, vacationing with her family, and doting on her two adoring grandsons that were truly the light of her life. She cherished most the times spent sitting around a table laughing with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Mark; her two daughters, Lori and Chris Ely of Ballston Lake, NY, Katie Walaska and Justin Mitchell of Ballston Lake, NY; her two grandsons, Mason and Lincoln; her 3 siblings Tom (Mary) Madden of Plymouth, MA, Debbie O’Connor of Dover, NH, Pat Coughlin of Coventry, RI; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Kathie was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary Eileen Madden who taught her first-hand how to be an amazing and loving mother and grandmother.

She is deeply loved and will be sincerely missed by so many, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is with Jesus and we will be reunited again someday. Until then, her family will cherish the so many special memories and laughs they were able to experience alongside their beloved wife, Mom, Nana, Auntie Kathie, and friend over the many lucky years they were loved by Kathie.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4-7pm on Friday December 29, 2023 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday December 30, 2023 at St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.  Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Ave.
