Funeral for Kathryn Louise Haney, 82, of Athens will be today, Feb. 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church Tanner with Ray McElhaney officiating and music provided by Jimmy Messer and Price Mitchell. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Haney, who died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, was born July 16, 1926, in Limestone County to Elbert Sydney Towe Sr. and Mary "Mamie" Towe. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church Tanner where she served as the first church secretary and was a charter member of the WMU.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Elbert Haney; grandson, Jimmy Don Haney Jr.; two granddaughters, Maggie Beth Haney and Jessica Delle Black; two daughters-in-law, Gwen Gayle Haney and Susan Haney; and a son-in-law, John McCrary.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Ransom Haney; three daughters, Gwendolyn Stone of Elkmont, Joanne Stewart and Delle Black, both of Athens; four sons, Jimmy Don Haney Sr. of Decatur, Eugene Haney, Ronald Glen Haney and David Haney, all of Athens; two brothers, Elbert Towe Jr. and Billy Joe Towe Sr., both of Limestone County; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
Spry Funeral Home will be directing.
