Kathryn Ramer

The news of Mrs. Ramer's death did not reach me until today when I shared last night's dream that included Mrs. Ramer. Although it has been more than 50 years since I experienced her teaching, it is not unusual for me to think of her with appreciation. My husband also quotes her at times, and both of us credit her with spurring us to think critically. Her son Ted and daughter Kitty were in high school in Van Buren with us, and they were wonderful persons also. ...

Mrs. Ramer was my Chemistry teacher at Bruton High School. She was a wonderful lady with a great sense of humor. I appreciate her dedication to education and her students.

I signed the book once already but I wanted the family to know what an influence Mrs. Ramer was to me. The following is from my Memoir which I wrote a year or so ago. "When I got in the 11th grade, I took Chemistry from Mrs. Katherine Ramer, my first mentor. Her son Ted was my best friend, but he did not possess my passion for chemistry. Sometime that fall of 1958, I learned that Mrs. Ramer was staying late each day to conduct an inventory of chemicals in the lab. I volunteered to help her....

Mrs Ramer was my Chemistry teacher at Bruton High school. Wonderful woman & teacher. She retired the year I graduated & I wish I thanked her for all she did for me

Very many of us are better persons for having known Kathryn Ramer. As her friends we pay homage to her charm and wit and to her life of service to others.
With bowed heads and moist eyes we bid her farewell.

Mrs. Ramer was my High School Biology and Chemistry teacher in Van Buren. She inspired me to follow a career in teaching chemistry. I am now retired and a Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at Christian Brothers University.

Ted was a close friend in our days together in Vn Buren and at UofA during our freshman year.
