Grandma
I miss you so very much and I wish that you were here to see all of your great grandchildren and how your family has grown.
This year I am taking the anniversary of of your passing
just as hard as I did as if it was yesterday and I don't know why.
But I do also think of you often and I tell my kids stories about you when I was growing up with you in my life. Since I am taking Richie's kids camping this weekend I will show them pictures of you and Grandpa and tell stories about you both. It seems like the perfect time since they are both old enough now. .
All my love, ,
Dee Dee

Dear Grandma,
I love and miss you so much! Life hasn't been the same since you, Mom and Grandpa left this world. I truly wish that you would have been able to see me as a Mother and met your granddaughter Lily. You were the best grandmother in the entire universe! I know that you are with so many loved ones up in Heaven. Thank you so much for continuing to be our guardian angel! I love and miss you!!! You truly are the best! xoxo

Happy Mother's Day Mom... I miss you so very much, and wish you were still here. I know you lost your own mother when you were just 5 years old, and you would always sing songs and recite poetry. You loved the "I'll Wear a White Flower for you, Mother Dear" and tell me about wearing a white flower on mother's day to honor your mother. And you would also sing to me this little song you learned in school:
M... is for the million things she gave me,
O... means only that she's growing old,
T... is for the tears she shed to save me,
H... is for her heart of purest gold;
E... is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
R... means right, and right she'll always be.
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
I was so lucky that God gave you to me...
Happy Mother's Day Mom, may you always rest in peace.
Love Always, Donna

Hi Mom... it's your 3rd Anniversary in Heaven, and I miss you so very much. I keep thinking that maybe you will come home from the hospital soon... and that helps. I am entering your Smile Poem that you wrote to your legacy today... it is such a beautiful poem - just like you, always smiling.
S m i l e
Try to smile at the World
No matter how sad you may Be
A Smile is like a precious Jewel
It shines for everyone to See
A Smile is the gateway to Heaven
It can open many a Door
It can tell a story over and Over
With a Smile you can never be Poor
A Smile brightens all Doorways
Lightens the burdens you Bare
It helps to cheer you on gloomy Days
And you carry it everywhere
Smiles are more precious than Diamonds
They grow richer and brighter each Day
So Smile, and count your Blessings
God created a Smile for you on your Way

Happy Birthday Mom..
on your second Birthday in Heaven...
You were a precious gift
from God above,
so much beauty, grace and love.
You touched our hearts in so many ways,
your smile so bright even on the bad days.
You heard God's whisper calling you home,
you didn't want to go and leave us alone.
You loved us so much, you held on tight,
till all the stregnth was gone and you could no longer fight.
He had called your name before,
you knew you couldn't make him wait anymore.
So you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away,
knowing that with our love we will be together again some day.
Loving you and Missing you always,
Donna Marie

Hi Mom... Well, I went to the Department of Defense briefing for MIA/POW's today... and I cried the moment I entered. It was from 8:00am until 5:00pm, and you would have been so pleased at the care and time that goes into this briefing. Mom, they were just wonderful... all of the military experts were there, and they had seats waiting for us, with complete printouts and letters about Boots... oh Mom, I'm so sorry you didn't live long enough to be able to attend one of those briefings. I completed our DNA objective, and Heidi met us there and they took her mitochondrial DNA too. Now, we are complete in the database, and hopefully, some day they will locate him. I know you are with him now, but I am sure you would want me to continue this quest. Mom, they were so thoughtful and kind. We met other people who had family MIA's from the 24th infantry also... and Mom, we personally spoke with the top military men in charge of the recovery, and they informed us that they have not recovered ANY of the men from the 24th. We learned why they cannot run DNA on the 851 remains in the Punch Bowl - It was so interesting to learn all that they do... they were filming a documentary during the briefing... and they really educated us on every aspect of the recovery, DNA recovery is only one part, and how it is done. I am now his PNOK... and we have exchanged our names with other families in the same situation. They had us sitting with 3 other families who lost their loved ones at the same time and place. Oh mom... today was such a difficult and spiritual day. I love you so much, and I miss our fun times together. You were so cute... in every way. Thank you for teaching me the greatest lesson of all... how to love. I have so much more to tell you, but I will do that this week when I finalize your headstone... I can't wait to see it with you and Dad.
Love you always,
Donna Marie

Mom ... your first Birthday in Heaven. Happy Birthday Mom, my best Friend. When a wonderful Mother is also your friend, she's a friend who's truly dear. There's a closeness between you unlike any other, and it means more every year. You can share so much with her, everything you recall, and the love and support that comes from her heart is the most precious memory of all... She's happy when you are, she lightens your cares... her devotion is one of a kind. My Mother was a wonderful Mother, she was so very kind... My Mother was a wonderful Mother, she was the very best friend I could find.
Happy Birthday Mother... Nothing is the same without you... I still feel like I am in shock.
I'll wear a white flower for you Mother dear... Please watch over us all...
Loving you and Missing you always,
