Not sure what to say?

I was overwhelmed with saddness when I heard the news today (11/2) about Kathy. Kathy and I were classmates in high school and worked at the University of Maryland since high school in graduate education. Her energy, smile, and positive attitude will be missed. My condolences to the family.

We're so sorry for your loss. We are former high school classmates of Kathy's.

To those who have taken the time to write a note: We, her family knew how special Kath was to us. It's obvious after reading so many wonderful notes that she was very special to all who knew her and believe me you all held a place in her heart as well. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Feel free to contact me to share your experiences with Kath.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Lori Carl

She was a smile on a breeze and always had sunshine in tow.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Kathy for several years, over 15 years ago at UMCP. My deepist sympathy to the family. May you carry her in your heart always.

Kathy was my first contact with the department and remained for me from far away it's presence. From here, in England, I share your grief.

Kathy was the best thing about the 4th floor in the Art History Department (Art/Soc building) during the years I spent there in my Master's program (1995-2000). The entire suite of offices was more cheery when Kathy was in. She was not only superbly capable and helpful, she was friendly and delightful. Our lunch time conversations ranged far and wide as Kathy was interested in and wise on many topics. Her cherished sons crept into many, many of those conversations -- she lit up with joy when...

I am profoundly saddened by Kathy's death, as I know are many others. She was so kind and helpful, especially as I was trying to work on my dissertation from afar while working full time, then when my wife became sick and I had to step back. Kathy offered so much support and also comfort. I wish I could tell her how much it was appreciated. She will be missed, and the department is greatly diminished by her loss, as I think all of us realize.

My thoughts are with her family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Michael and Thomas. I am so sorry.
