A blessing to have met this fine loving lady
June 28, 2023

Kathy A. Maier was born on Dec. 20, 1955, in Plentywood, to Howard and Ann Syme. Kathy passed away from complications related to her diabetes on Monday, July 2, 2007. She has gone to be with the Lord and He will heal her from all the pain and suffering resulting from her struggles with diabetes.
Kathy graduated from Plentywood High School in 1974 and moved to Billings to attend Billings Business College. She attended a one-year course and started working at the Billings Clinic as a records secretary. In 1975, Kathy began working for a mortgage company and for the next 32 years, dedicated herself to finding ways to secure loans for people wanting their own homes. She opened Premier Mortgages Services in 1992 and operated it along with her daughter Nicki until the present. Her business logo was the "Lone Arranger" and Kathy always seemed to be able to achieve her goal
Kathy dedicated her life to helping others and by being an example of hard work and determination to overcome all obstacles. Kathy was a longtime member and past president of the Montana Mortgage Brokers Association. She was also a member and vice-president of the Midland Round Table.
Kathy is survived by David, her high school sweetheart and husband of 28 years; her loving daughters, Nicki of Billings, Stacy McGlynn and husband Bill of Missoula; parents, Howard and Ann Syme of Plentywood; her sister, Linda Black and husband Don of Billings; and her favorite niece, Alexis Syme of Billings; her in-laws, Ed and Norine Maier of Dickinson, N.D. Kathy has an extensive family with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kathy and David have always opened their home to anyone in need. All were welcomed to stop and stay a while; friends were always greeted with enthusiasm, regardless of the health concerns going on in their lives. There were many happy memories on the back deck and around the pool. Kathy loved fast-pitch softball and sponsored a team. When not watching sports of all kinds, you would find her bathing in the sun in her backyard swimming pool.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m., at Dahl Funeral Chapel. There will be a reception following the services at their home, 342 Quiet Water Ave.
Cremation will take place, with interment of ashes at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Gift of Life Transplant House, 705 Second St. S.W., Rochester, MN 55902; or Midland Round Table Athletics.
May our dear Kathy rest in peace.

Kathy was a positive role model for all who knew her. On Saturday, June 30th, she was gracious enough to invite us to an open house. My son Dan accompanied me and we had a chance to see the home, visit the neighborhood, and compare notes on community development. I walked away with the feeling of how impressed I was of Kathy's courage, wisdom, and great sense of humor. Two days later, she passed on and it validated to me that "tomrrow is not guaranteed for anyone." We wish to extend our...
