HANDY-LeCOQ, KATIE M. Was born in DeRidder, Louisiana on May 2, 1958 to the Late Frank Handy Jr. and Nellie Mae Grinds-Handy of DeRidder, Louisiana. She departed this life on Monday, October 1, 2007. Katie accepted Christ and was baptized at New Hope C.M.E. Church in 1962 under the pastorship of The Reverend Robert L. Norwood where she attended until she joined the military. Upon graduation from DeRidder High School in 1976, she enlisted in the United States Navy where she served honorably from December 1, 1980 to November 28, 1986. After separation from the United States Navy in 1988 Katie was employed by the Dallas Processing and Distribution Center of the United States Postal Service. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Nellie Mae Handy of DeRidder; one son, Stephen LeCoq of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Frankie M. Evans and Jennifer Handy, both to DeRidder, LA; Diana (Willie) Hamilton of Lake Charles, LA; one brother, William Spikes of Houston, TX; one half brother - Otis Handy (Narvelle) of Oakland, CA; ten nieces, Stephanie Engrum and Ursula Handy of Shreveport, LA, Catina L. Fulton of Alexandria, LA, LaQuinitha D. Fulton of DeRidder, LA, Leah Ellen Hamilton, Rochelle Antoine and Shanel Handy of Lake Charles, LA, Rose Clark (Charles) of Port Arthur, TX, Joyce Coleman and Elfreda Thompson both of San Antonio, TX; seven nephews, Alfred, Logan, and Clarence Handy of Lake Charles, Shamel Handy of Baton Rouge, LA, Ramel Handy and Franklin Fulton - both of DeRidder, and Edward R. McClinton of Beaumont, TX, a host of cousins, family and friends.
