Katie was my freshman year roommate at Hampton University. She was a wonderful person. My prayers are with your family. May God comfort and keep you.

I was saddened when my sister, whom resides in Virginia and knows that I graduated from Southside High School with Katie, called with the news and later shared the obituary with me via e-mail. May God grant you peace during this time!

Her memory will always be that of a great person, greater teacder and a teaching preacher. We will miss her. To the family of the late Rev Miss Katie Lou McKenzie...I was deeply sorry, when my sister called me a couple days ago, to announce the departure of Rev McKenzie's spirit from this world below. She (Rev McKenzie) was very special to me and my family. Rev McKenzie was my math instructor, guidance counselor, and friend...Rev. McKenzie will be wonderfully missed in the Pittsylvania County, Va community and as Pastor of the Watson Level Missonary Baptist Church, Climax, Va.
