Kay Clarke

I am sorry to learn of Kay's death, and had been concerned as I had been unable to get through on the phone for some time. We taught together in Garden City, Kansas when we both lived there, and felt like sisters, having stayed in touch at birthdays for 25 years. I've missed her.

I loved working with Kay through CCC. She was an excellent teacher and a joy to be around.

Kay was the first person EVER to invite me to join a book club. In working around several students at GISH, one in particular remarked that his essay to apply for a scholarship was decidedly better because Kay had been his writing teacher. She was a true friend to all she met, and her example should influence all of us.

I knew Kay from working at GISH where she and I taught. Kay was a true southern belle, and the kindest, or one of the kindest person at school. In a world where kindness is not demonstrated often, she was the example that we all needed to follow and from whom we needed to learn . She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.
