Not sure what to say?

I met Kay and Don when I had their children in my classes at Kentwood Elementary in Westchester, CA. We became personal friends. I remember paper drives they would work and their help with classroom fieldtrips. I will cherish the glass placque they sent me for my retirement in 1999. I've kept up with the family news through our emails right up to the end. I will miss her dearly and am glad her stroke happened before the fact and not after as my family has a history of stroke and the...

We were blessed to get to know Kay and Don through our long term friendship with their daughter Debbie and son in law Brian. Any time we were around Kay her smile would light up the room and her laugh was contagious. She loved her grandsons Kyle and Michael and she was their number one fan at all their sporting events. Our deepest sympathy to you Don, Debbie and Jeff.

It seems like only yesterday that I was speaking with Kay and wishing her well. I told her I was sorry we couldn't get together and that I'd talk with her next week. Don, I don't have the words to say how sorry I am! I can't even begin to imagine how you feel. I love you so much and am so sorry for your loss. Please call any time for anything. Love always and forever, Becki

We feel so blessed to have met Don and Kay. Kay's warm heart and quick wit made her a pleasure to be around. In today's world old-school ethics and family values aren't found often, but lived strong in the Roots house, we're sure that these are the very things that will get the family through these difficult times. Our love and prayers go out to everyone suffering from this loss.

On behalf of the Van Orman Dental Group, we would like to extend our most heart felt condolences to Don, Jeff and the rest of the wonderful Root family. She was so dear to all of us and will be sorely missed.

Warmest regards

Dr. Jeffrey Van Orman

When I met Kay, it was very apparent that she was a loving and devoted wife, and mother. Her smile was warm and her laugh contagious. It is easy to see where her daughter Debbie gets her charm and quick wit. I remember how elated Kay was when she was expecting her first grandchild. While at the baby shower she was truly overjoyed at watching her daughter prepare for motherhood. It was obvious that she was anxious to begin that stage in her life. Kay has left a wonderful legacy for her family...

I had the privilege of visiting Kay and Don just a couple of weeks before her unexpected death. I took this picture of us which is probably one of her last ones. I am Don´s first cousin and have lived most of my life in Colombia. For many years I had not seen them. I will miss her good sense of humor and enthusiasm, her always positive attitude towards life and others. I send my deepest condolences to Don, Jeff,Debby and family of whom she was so proud.

I'm so happy I got to meet and get to know such a wonderful lady. You always put a smile on my face every time I saw you and you were always so nice to me. I will miss you but never forget you..

Kay and Don, just the kind of neighbors everyone should have. Kay was a quiet sort of lady who always wanted to make things better for those around her. She was a willing listener and I loved her sense of humor. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. The times she shared with them were treasures for her. I miss her. It is hard to think of her not being just across the street and ready with a cheerful word. My deep sympathy to Don and her family. I know that they will honor...
