Kayle Griffith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 13, 2017.
Kayle Anne Griffith (20) lost her battle with depression on December 11, 2017. She was born in Vicksburg, MS, on February 19, 1997. Kayle was saved and baptized on October 4, 2009. Today, she is resting in the peaceful arms of our Heavenly Father.

From the time Kayle started kindergarten, she excelled in academics, and she received many awards at each level including several Presidential Awards for Academic Excellence. Over the years she was involved in many clubs, including: National Honor Society, History Club, and Junior Classical League, and she was a member of the Diamond Girls and Attache show choir crew. She was an avid reader and loved Harry Potter. Kayle graduated with the Class of 2015 from Clinton High School with honors. She received the Academic Excellence and the Bledsoe scholarships to Ole Miss where she was a junior and full-time student working towards degrees in Computer Science and Accounting.

Kaylebug, or "Kayles" as her friends called her, captured our hearts from the day she was born. She was a light in all our lives. She was loved to the "Moon and Back" by her Mom, her Mimi and PaPaw's heart, and her Aunt Kristen's baby doll when she came into this world. She was a sweet and loving little girl. Her broad smile was contagious, and she always knew how to make your heart smile with her funny jokes. She was never afraid to try new things or meet new people. She felt strongly that all people should be treated equally and she was quick to defend something she believed in.

Kayle left an impact on everyone around her when she entered a room. As a beautiful, strong, and intelligent woman, her presence was such a delight to those around her. Her vivacious personality was truly one of a kind, and anyone who came into contact with her can attest to that. She had a multitude of friends whom she made feel incredibly special. Kayle had a knack for treating each person she encountered with so much love. Her quick wit was unforgettable. She loved all types of music and enjoyed going to music festivals. She also loved riding around with her friends in her beloved high school car, "The Golden Snitch."

In her own words, Kayle described herself as: independent, loyal, giving, loving, really loud or really quiet, assertive, friendly, caring, open minded, strong willed, non-judgmental, hardworking, confident, dreamer, understanding, creative, strong willed, smart, and funny.

Kayle's favorite verse: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths" Proverbs 3:5-6

She believed that by the grace of God, that miracles are worked in our lives daily. He does everything in His timing, and He loves us unconditionally. There is no greater love. By believing in Him and his works, we can only hope to live a fulfilling life that honors the greatness that has been instilled in us by Him.

Kayle is survived by her parents, Lori G. Flowers of Clinton, MS, and James Clifton "Cliff" Wilkerson, of Austin, TX; grandparents, Don and Karen Griffith of Vicksburg, MS, and Edith and Robert Sandoz of Saint Joseph, LA; aunts, Kristen G. Davis (fiancé, Brandon Bond) of Carriere, MS, and Margaret Wilkerson of St. Joseph, LA; numerous great aunts/uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Kayle Griffith to the American Foundation for Prevention of Suicide, Mississippi Chapter, at www.afsp.org

"Until We Meet Again"

Those special memories of you

Will always bring a smile

If only I could have you back

For just a little while

Then we could sit and talk again

Just like we used to do

You always meant so very much

And always will do too

The fact that you're no longer here

Will always cause me pain

But you're forever in my heart

Until we meet again

"Gone Too Soon"

This was a life that hardly begun

No time to find your place in the sun

Not time to do all you could have done

But we loved you enough for a lifetime

No time to enjoy the world and its wealth

No time to take life down off the shelf

Not time to sing the song of yourself

Though you had enough love for a lifetime

Those who live long endure sadness and tears

But you'll never suffer the sorrowing years

No betrayal, no anger

Not hatred, no fears

Just love, only love in your lifetime.

I met Kayle this past summer at Firefly music festival. She was so beautiful. She made a lasting impact on my best friend and I even though we only knew her a few short days. We walked away from that experience envying her vibrance and energy. We were looking forward to making a trip to visit her and my heart is broken knowing that won't happen. Every festival or show I go to this year I'll pray a piece of her comes along for the adventure. Sending my love, prayers and condolences to her family all the way from Boston.

We hardly knew one another but everytime I saw you or had a class with you in highschool you always had a smile and was seen with people who looked like they cared a great deal about you. You always showed school spirit, was the loudest in the room, and had witty comebacks for everything. I'm sorry your family is going through all this but I know God's got a new angel in the mist ready to recieve all his blessings and watch over her loved ones like they've been watching over her. Rest easy Kayle. Your journey is only just beginning!

Kayle was the most loving, fun person I've ever come into contact with. I thank God that I had the opportunity to know her and be able to call her a friend. Every time I saw her she had a smile on her face and always kept me and everyone else laughing. Sending my condolences and love to the Griffith family during this hard time. In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always, Kayle.

Kayle,
my heart is broken. It is broken for many reasons but mainly because I hate that you had to experience the pain of feeling like your life is pointless and there is no way out. Many people won't understand. Some will be angry. Me, personally, I completely understand, but that doesn't mean I'm not completely and utterly speechless and torn. I miss your smile. I miss your thick southern accent. I miss you always starting your sentences to me with "girl" lol. It takes a special person to walk up to someone eating alone at the student union as a freshman, sit down, and strike up a conversation. But you are a special person. And you did walk right up to me and chatted with me like i'd known you for ages. A lot has happened since our freshman year. Life throws crap at us every day. I think college are some of the hardest years to conquer just because of growth and fear in itself. Throw in struggles with depression, boys, catty girls, horrible cops, and a huge load of class work and it all seems to boil over. You are so precious and loved. Not past tense. In my mind, your still here making me laugh. To Kayle's family, I hope you know without any doubts the amazing and unforgettable impact your daughter had on the people around her. I will never forget her. My flight to home to california made it impossible for me to not attend the service, but know she is my thoughts, my dreams, and my every day movements. I will carry on her strength and joy as best as I can and i pray for healing and relief for you all. My condolences.

What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind.
