I just ran across Mrs. Moroi's recipe for Fried Rice Deluxe in the Christ Church (Kent, Ohio) cookbook, and wondered about her. How very sad I am to learn that she has passed on (as has my mother, Lee Ennis). I recall with fondness her artistry with flowers, and the exquisite care she took with the elegant candle ribbons for the church pews. What a beautiful and generous soul... with a lovely, shy giggle that I can still hear. :)

What a shock to stumble across this obituary while playing around on the internet this evening. I have very fond memories of Mrs. Moroi from when I lived in Kent 1968-1971, and I've thought of her from time to time over the years. I was a friend and classmate of Sayoko. I have vivid memories of having dinner at her house - Mrs. Moroi cut the carrots and radishes to look like flowers. I was *so* impressed by that. I also remember her making skirts for the Campfire Girls, and her teaching me to make origami cranes. I'll never forget her and my heart goes out to her family.

David,
Some of my fondest memories when visiting my mother (Alyce) in Columbus were the times we visited with you and Kazue in your home. I'll never forget the wonderful authentic Japanese dinner Kazue prepared for us when my girls were much younger. Eileen still has the the doll patterns that Kazue mailed to her in Texas after Eileen and she spent hours in the "doll room". Your wife was an amazing woman - so gracious, self-less and generous. It was a blessing to have known her and an honor that she knew me. -- Barbi
