I would consider myself an acquaintance with KC. Like KC I was a clerk typest at the Fort Leonard Wood Army base. I first met him at the base gym in 1957. Since l was an Indiana high school basketball player l to spent time in that gym. On occasions the two of us shot baskets together and chatted. K.C. and I were good friends at Ft. Leonard Wood 1956-58. We were on the post football team and we both were starting defensive backs. When he was discharged, he called me up from L.A. Rams training camp and did not know if he would continue with football or play basketball. I said if I were him, I would lean toward basketball.
