Keenan Lucero Obituary
April 9, 1992 ~ August 13, 2011
Carmel - Keenan T. Lucero, born April 9, 1992 in Monterey, passed away suddenly on August 13 as the result of an automobile accident. A graduate of Carmel High School, Class of 2010, he attended Chico State University. While in high school, Keenan excelled in football, playing defensive lineman for the league-winning team.
Keenan is survived by his parents, Joseph Barney Lucero of Carmel Valley and Tiffany Lucero of Carmel; his maternal grandparents, Bonita and Joseph Genovese of Pennsauken, NJ; his mother's siblings, Hope Martin, Christian and Jennifer Genovese and Brian and Randi Genovese and a niece and four nephews. He is also missed by his dog, Dre.
Keenan had a very special relationship with his parents and Tiffany and Barney each feel they have lost not only their son but also their best friend. The Lucero and Genovese families wish to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support they have received at this most difficult time.
Visitation will take place this Thursday, August 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at The Paul Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will also be at Carmel Mission Basilica on Friday, August 19 at 9:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Carmel High School Scholarship Foundation, Attn: Lisa, P.O. Box 222780, Carmel, CA 93922.

Dearest Keenan.. the 13th. Of the month is Wednesday and as always we miss you so much. There are still no words to describe our pain. Memories are what gets us thru each day. One memory is when we went to see you in California and going thru chemo I wore a wig. You said to me, Grammy my mom said you are wearing a wig because you are bald! It struck me as cute!! Dearest Keenan.. tomorrow is the 13th. And as always it brings tears to our eyes. I read an article , by a Pennsauken author, who lost her son. On the day of his anniversary it brought tears to her eyes. The friend recommended that she do something nice for someone on that day in his memory. So, I shall take a page out of her book and try it tomorrow. Wish me luck. Love you to the moon and back, I know my brother, Art is looking after you. ❤

Dear Keenan,
Thinking of you on this Easter Holiday and your family who will missing you as always. Last week would have been your 25th birthday. I'm so glad mom went to Santa Monica to visit my daughter Jennifer and see the new baby Charlie. I'm glad she was not alone on that day. Jen took a picture of her holding Charlie with a smile on her face. It's hard not to do that as he emits happiness and it's rare for her to smile in photos. I thought you might like to see her with a smile. Your mom used to babysit for my girls when she was young. She means so much to us. I will be going to Carmel to visit with her this Memorial Day holiday and will sit on your bench in the sunshine. Your mom and family are very brave as they go through each day without you. . They miss you so much.
