A Comfortable Homebody
As a senior vice president at Euro Brokers, Keiichiro Takahashi had the résumé of a high-flying businessman: lots of travel, lots of responsibility, an office in the World Trade Center. But in reality, he was most comfortable as a homebody who loved the simple life and exuded low-key stability.

On weekends, he liked to stroll the streets of his adopted hometown, Port Washington, N.Y., with his wife, Harumi, whom he met in glee club when they were students at International Christian University in Tokyo. He liked to see science fiction movies -- anything with "Star Wars" or "Jurassic Park" in the title -- with his wife, his son, Hiroyuki, 26, and his daughter, Akiko, 19.

Mr. Takahashi, 53, enjoyed tending to his backyard garden of flowers, tomatoes and Japanese herbs and vegetables. He was such the quintessence of domestic stability and equilibrium, in fact, that after 28 years of marriage, Mrs. Takahashi said that she had never seen her husband raise his voice. He was, however, getting excited about something else: in a few years, after his daughter graduated from Tufts, he was probably going to retire, and enjoy his home life full-time.

Not sure what to say?

I saw a documentary about infinity and it was very interesting and it was directed by a man with the last name Takahashi. It immediately brought me back to one of the kindness and warmest traders/brokers on Wall Street. If I could last and infinite amount of time trading for the Bank of Tokyo and brokering derivatives, I think I would never meet a calmer and kinder man. You father and husband was a very special man and he lives on as we try and remember his amazing legacy of calmness.

We never met, but I know that you bought my childhood home at 57 Orchard Farm Road in Port Washington from my parents, Milton & Adelaide Mawbey. For this reason, plus the fact that I lived in Japan for 11 years makes me feel connected to you & yours. I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Please accept my condolences!

Hello Akiko. Just to say I'm thinking of you and your family tonight and tomorrow as I do every year. Much love, Sarah. (Henry's sister)

Will always remember you with affection & love x

After all these years I have only just learned about what happened to Mr. Takahashi (Taki) as we called him in London when I met up with colleagues at Mitsubishi Trust in London who I hadn't seen since 1981 (34 years!). I worked at the bank from 1978-1981, I used to sit next to Taki during some of that time, and everything that is written about him is true. He was such a gentle, nice man, patient and very handsome too! He was a lovely person, and ever since I found out I've been thinking...

We will never forget.

So inspirational reading from your loved ones how gentle you were with everyone........ My condolences to your family that you left behind... May your soul continue to rest in eternal peace... Love from Jamaica......
