Keith R. DeGruy

After a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, Keith R. DeGruy departed this life on November 26, 2024.  A lifelong New Orleanian, he was the 2nd of 3 children to his loving parents, Raymond F. DeGruy, and Shirley Deloney DeGruy. Upon completion of his primary and secondary education, Keith pursued his dream of an Electronics career, receiving his FCC license in 1973. During his 30 + year career in Radio, and Telecommunications, he achieved the status of IT Consultant in the Engineering Department of SAIC, and Entergy Corporation, working countless hours during storms and emergencies, but also making lasting and enduring friendships. His life was one of devotion to his family, friends, and his faith, wearing many hats. He loved to grill, play his guitar, dress as Santa for family at Christmas celebrations, and discover all facets of space exploration. Keith was also a devout Christian of the Catholic Church, participating in many church ministries, remaining an altar server, until his health declined. He, along with his family, participated in the annual “America Needs Fatima” Rosary at St. Raymond/St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, which was initiated by his parents, the late Shirley and Raymond DeGruy. He was ultimately awarded the St. Louis Medallion for his dedication and years of service to Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church. Keith was united in Holy Matrimony, May 2, 1975, to his loving wife Lydia, and they shared a full and beautiful marriage for 49 ½ years, until The Lord called him home. In addition to his wife, Lydia, Keith is survived by his son, Justin, Sr (Jennifer), 6 grandchildren, Justin, Jr, Isaiah, Phillip, Jewel, Lillian, and Julian Paul, and his great-granddaughter Paris. Also survived by his beloved sister, Angela, one sister-in-law, Linda Dusset (Mitchell), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, particularly, his cousin Marvin, and his constant companion Farley, the dog. He was preceded in death by his eldest son Jon Raymond DeGruy, his parents, Raymond and Shirley DeGruy, and his sister, Jocelyn Mack.
