Mr. Keith Anthony Henry, one of the original owners of the BAR-B-QUE KING or also known as "Special K" left this earth on Friday, Sept 10, 2021. A home going celebration will be held on Thursday September 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida with Pastor Rochester Jacobs, Sr, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Keith Henry was born in Detroit, MI to the parentage of Virgil and Emma Henry. The Henry family moved to Tampa, Florida in the late 1960's to take over the family restaurant.
Keith was a graduate of Hillsborough High and moved on to play college football in Atlanta. He shortly had to end his career due to a terrible knee injury. Years later, Keith moved to Arkansas and became the proud father of 3 beautiful daughters. Shortly after, he moved back home to Tampa to continue to help the family with the "Original BAR-B-QUE King".
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Emma Henry; his siblings, Virgil Jr, Judy, Gwendolyn, John Darryl, and Valerie.
Keith is survived by his 3 daughters, Ebony (Lee), Alicia (Shannon) and Felicia (Jacob); 10 grandchildren, Te'Vion, Sharod, Olivia, Lee III, Terrell, Emma, Alani, Syia, Ava, and Kaden; sister, Alicia Renée; two nieces, Amelia ("KiKi"), Tiffany and nephew, Keith; first cousins the kemp family, Ethel McNeil, Yvonne Kemp, Fred Kemp Jr., Carolyn Anderson (Roosevelt), Donald Kemp, Johnnie Kemp(Eldria) ,Gail Anderson, Kathy Kemp(Rodney), Anthony Kemp, and Patrick Kemp. Keith also left behind a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. There will be a viewing on Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. Due to the current CDC restrictions we are asking that everyone WEAR A MASK.
