Honaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Slidell Obituary

Keith Dennis Kelly, 73, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans.

Keith was born December 4, 1947, in New Orleans, to Joseph T. and Josephine Mole Kelly.

He is survived by former spouse Colleen J. Kelly; three children, Kerry Kelly Gridley (Asahel), Kyle Kelly (Molly), and Kathleen Kelly; four grandchildren, Valentina Gridley, Ford Gridley, Graham Kelly, Vivian Kelly; one sister, Kathleen Kern, nieces, and other relatives.

Our Dad served in the Army from 1970-72, rising in rank from Private to E5 Sergeant, and was assigned to work on Pershing missiles which he was very proud of. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity while attending the University of New Orleans where he graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering. His career began with Bel Aerospace working on surface effect vehicles, he then went to work for NOPSI and he retired from Entergy while we lived in Texas. He loved playing and watching golf on TV, especially with his son Kyle, and had an avid love of the band The Beatles, and his poodle Napoleon who he taught many tricks to. He loved to work with his hands, built several houses for the family with my mother and could fix or improve anything. He was meticulous and his work was always near perfect. He was a wonderful, beloved father and will be sorely missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd, Slidell, LA.

Friends may visit at the church beginning at 10:00am. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am.

Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.

Not sure what to say?

I met Keith while working at Entergy shortly after the merger. He and I became friends and I always admired his deep technical knowledge as well as his willingness to share it. We lost touch after we retired but I often think about him. Sorry to hear of his passing
May he Rest In Peace

Will miss my brother-in-law Kieth! He was always there when I need help! From fixing my car or any electrical work! He was liked by everyone he came in contact! Kieth was like a brother that I never had! Will miss him! Mat

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
